Process Introduction

Process capability:
Stamping machines: 25 ton - 400 ton
Typical Product weight: 1 gram - 4000 grams
Both Stage Die Stamping and Progressive Die Stamping are available
Material: Steel, Stainless steel, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Titanium

As sheet metal stamping process, any single part can require multiple steps to arrive at its final form, including blanking, forming, drawing, piercing. With a series of operations, the metal can be altered from a relatively simple shape into a complex one.
 
Secondary Finish:
Anodizing (for aluminum parts)
Powder coating
E-coating
Electroplating – Zinc, Chrome, Nickel, etc.
Spray painting
Dacromet coating

General Development process for a new project:
Customer Input
Customer provides one or more of the following:
a. 3D and/or 2D design
b. Sketch
c. Reference sample
d. Description

Meco Engineering Team Output
a.DFM analysis with design proposals
b.Engineering support
c.3D model and 2D drawing; including tolerance definition, draft, radius recommendation for stamping
d.Fit clearance, gap, and interference check (3D)
e.Preliminary tooling layout presentation specifying punching direction, fillet radius for forming or drawing; subsequent discussion with customer team

● Production/tooling development cycle (30-40 Days)

● Trial Process
a. Trial run on stamping machines
b. Document trial parameters
c. Share FAI (First Article Inspection) report with customers

Tooling Modification and Validation
a. Receive approval from customer on modifications; continue with validation process
